The Ingenion Entrepreneurs Forum, organized by the Training and Employment department of the Santa Eulària City Council, celebrated its tenth edition on November 8, a day in which Las Dalias received recognition for its long and successful business career, as a reference with 70 years of history associated with the Ibiza brand, craftsmanship and alternative culture.
Las Dalias receives in 2018 the Premio Diario de Ibiza to the most innovative buisiness, an award that recognizes the trajectory of Las Dalias. This wawrd was collected by Joan Marí, Juanito, during the gala commemorating the 125th anniversary of the newspaper, which was held at the Palacio de Congresos de Santa Eulària. Through these awards, the Diario de Ibiza, distinguishes the most outstanding people, professionals or companies on the island for their work for the benefit of Ibizan society. The Can Misses Palliative Care Unit, the ecologists of the Mar Blava Alliance, the filmmaker David Marqués and the historian and director of the Encyclopaedia of Ibiza and Formentera, Felip Cirer were also the recipients of different prizes and recognitions during the gala.
The Govern de les Illes Balears awards Las Dalias the 2016 Tourism Prize for its contribution to the image of tourism on the islands. This award recognises the extensive trajectory and experience of Las Dalias, which has been adapting to tourism trends since 1954 and is now an international reference. The Balearic Government highlights the work carried out from the opening of the bar to the present day, emphasising its cultural contribution to the arrival of tourism, with shows for visitors from the first day of its opening.
In 2014, the Santa Eulalia Town Council acknowlegded the work done by Las Dalias to help promote Ibiza as a tourist destination. The mayor, Vicent Marí, presented the founder of Las Dalias, Juan Marí Juan, with the plaque that accredits Las Dalias as a Place of Municipal Tourist Interest. As was highlighted at the ceremony, since the roadside bar opened in 1954 until today, "Las Dalias has been functioning for more than 60 years with the same objective: to offer the thousands of people who visit the flea market every year an alternative of leisure and culture based on the love of art, music and things made by hand.
The Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council awarded Las Dalias the Xarc 2014 Prize, an award that distinguishes people or local associations that stand out due to their professional careers and social, cultural and artistic projection. The founder, Juan Marí Juan, and his daughter Lucía collected the award in a moving ceremony held at the Teatro España. The City Council thus recognized the 60 years "of history and stories that have made Las Dalias a tourist reference in Santa Eulària”.
The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Ibiza and Formentera awarded Las Dalias the Posidonia 2013 Prize for Business Excellence. The Chamber thus recognised the Las Dalias’ trajectory and its contribution to the dynamisation of the island's economy and tourism, as well as the revitalisation of the image of our island associated with the flea market and the cultural activities it carries out throughout the year. The prize is a sculpture by the jeweller Enric Mayoral that represents the underwater meadows of Posidonia oceanica that carpet and oxygenate the sea of Ibiza and Formentera.
In 2008, Ibiza's most prestigious academic centre distinguished Las Dalias with the Prize for Creativity and Innovation, stressing that "it has become an emblem of Ibiza, a testament to what has always made us different from other tourist destinations". At the award ceremony, the management of the School of Tourism, member of the University of the Balearic Islands, described the flea market as "a perfect mix of nationalities and cultures, living peacefully and projecting a colourful and positive image of the island".
We recommend avoiding peak hours (Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.), as significant traffic congestion occurs. Additionally, we may need to close the market entrance if full capacity is reached.
